Ariane Bousquet
Research Associate

Ariane Bousquet is a post-doctoral researcher in Economics at CESAER (INRAE – Dijon), and a former PhD candidate in a public-private (CIFRE) contract between Centre for Economics of Paris-Saclay (CEPS) and Renault Group (Research department).

In February 2025, she defended her thesis “Essays on the evaluation of public policies for the decarbonization of the automobile fleet.”

She formerly graduated from Ecole Centrale Paris in 2021 and she has a masters degree in Environmental Economics from Paris-Saclay University (EEET).

Her research is at the cross-road of empirical IO and Environmental & Urban Economics. My research interests include:

  • Distributive effects of energy and environmental policies

It highlights the limitations of poorly targeted subsidies and recommends more effective policies, such as support for used electric vehicles and standards for the size of new electric vehicles.

Evaluating second-hand EVs subsidies Efficiency and Welfare Gains

The recent inclusion of second-hand EV subsidies in several countries raises questions about their economic rationale. Contrary to conventional thinking, we show that while subsidies for second-hand EVs are often justified on equity grounds, they also improve efficiency as they influence the equilibrium composition of the vehicle fleet.
