Corporate Strategy for the Green Transition: Are Executive Incentives Effective?

This paper examines whether green incentives embedded in executive compensation schemes are associated with a reorientation of firms’ innovative activities toward environmentally sustainable technologies. Overall, the findings suggest that executive green incentives are associated with the direction, and not merely the volume, of firms’ innovative activities, highlighting the role of internal governance mechanisms in sustainability transitions while recognising the limits of causal inference in observational data.

International Review of Financial Analysis

This study tests if CMP by large firms are linked to higher financial performance.

Most CMP show no impact on Tobin’s Q, suggesting investor indifference to climate action.

EMS certification is linked to lower CFP, possibly due to cost or greenwashing concerns.
GHG targets show a nonlinear link: only very ambitious targets are associated with CFP.
The absence of impact suggests credibility gaps and short-termism hinder market pricing.

Climate management practices and market valuation: The price of (in)credibility

This study explores to what extent the implementation of managerial Climate Management Practices (CMP) adopted by large publicly traded firms is associated with Corporate Financial Performance (CFP), measured by Tobin’s Q. The results show that most CMP are not significantly linked to Tobin’s Q, implying that markets largely view them as neutral with respect to value creation. These findings offer practical insights for managers, investors, and regulators, highlighting how climate management practices can be structured to better align with evolving market expectations.

The inequality-emission dilemma : Predistribution vs. redistribution

Macro-economical and societal challengesPublicationsPublicationsResearch areaResearch FellowsTobias AngelComments Off on The inequality-emission dilemma : Predistribution vs. redistribution

This study investigates the relationship between distinct types of inequality and CO2 emissions using panel data on 156 countries from 1995 to 2020. These findings call for international cooperation and public policies aimed at a more equitable primary income distribution to achieve joint inequality and reduction of carbon emissions.
